Bundesliga round-up round 25! Anthony Modeste's hat-trick and Leipzig's triple woe – The Matchday 25 round-up!

1. FC Cologne 4-2 Hertha Berlin

Anthony Modeste was the hero for the Billy Goats against the capital club as his hat-trick secured a first win in five for Cologne. Yuya Osako put the hosts ahead early with a devilish swerving effort, before the Frenchman added two more before the break. Hertha responded at the start of the second half with a Vedad Ibisevic penalty, but Modeste ensured the points with his third of the game before John Anthony Brooks rose high at a corner to reduce the Berlin deficit, but to no avail.

Werder Bremen 3-0 RB Leipzig

Werder have now joined three other teams on 29 points just above the Bundesliga relegation zone following an impressive display against second-placed Leipzig. The Green-Whites had a trio of Austrians to thank for the win as Zlatko Junuzovic's stunner opened the scoring before Florian Grillitsch and Florian Kainz rounded off the win in Bremen. Leipzig are now just three points ahead of third-placed Dortmund and open the door to Bayern to open up a 13-point lead.

Hoffenheim 1-0 Leverkusen

Hoffenheim secured their maiden Bundesliga win over Bayer Leverkusen thanks to Sandro Wagner's 11th goal of the season. The forward got on the end of an Andrej Kramaric cross for the only goal of a game, which saw a amazing 29 efforts on goal. Leverkusen pushed for an equaliser by bringing on Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez and Leon Bailey, but TSG held on to tighten their grip on fourth spot and leave Die Werkself's own European hopes hanging in the balance.

Wolfsburg 1-0 Darmstadt

Mario Gomez was the difference once again for Wolfsburg under Andries Jonker. The Germany international followed up his call-up to the national team this week with the only goal of the game against bottom side Darmstadt when he headed home Jannes Horn's cross on the stroke of half-time. The Wolves are now on 29 points alongside three other points, but still slipped two positions after Bremen's victory.

Borussia Dortmund moved to within three points of second-placed RB Leipzig after a hard-fought 1-0 win over second-bottom Ingolstadt on Friday. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang swept home a Marcel Schmelzer cross with the first chance of the game to bring up his league-leading 23rd goal of the campaign. Ingolstadt, however, played nothing like a team who had lost five of their previous seven matches and home keeper Roman Bürki had to be at his best to preserve the points.

Augsburg 1-1 Freiburg

The visitors took the lead in coach Christian Streich's 200th competitive game in charge just on the hour-mark when Florian Niederlechner converted a penalty after Marwin Hitz fouled Mike Frantz in the box. The lead lasted less than ten minutes, however, when Konstantinos Stafylidis headed in Georg Teigl's looping cross. The point means Die Fuggerstädter join the four-team contingent on 29 points, while Freiburg missed a chance to apply further pressure on the European hopefuls.

Eintracht Frankfurt 0-0 Hamburger SV

Eintracht Frankfurt snapped a five-game losing streak with a 0-0 draw at home to an improving Hamburg side in a game which marked two comebacks for the Eagles. Marco Russ was back in their starting XI for the first time after a ten-month recovery from cancer treatment while Marco Fabian made his first start of 2017 after injury. Both helped Niko Kovac's men put some brakes on a recent slide, although the draw in a tight, combative fixture at the Commerzbank-Arena nevertheless saw them drop out of the top six for the first time since Matchday 12.
